Q: What does the band name "The
Brothers Highhorse" mean?
This is the question we always get in interviews! It’s an inside joke from high school band, in which a couple of us were bitched at in band class by the director, who shouted “why don't you brothers get off your high horse?!?!” Shirts with “the Brothers Highhorse” were printed up in spite, and years later it became the band name.
Q: You've played with a lot of big name bands: All Shall Perish, The Red Chord, Veil of Maya, Oceano, and Born of Osiris. Which band has been the most enjoyable to play with?
Upon a Burning Body, Rose Funeral, and Aegaeon are all really cool dudes.
Q: Your latest EP, Invasion, has been out since 2011. When can we expect a new EP or demo?
SOON… Just finished up a single and we’re waiting to get it mastered. This upcoming EP is going to be so much more epic and crushing than our previous music. We are really pumped to get it all out to you.
Q: You're currently signed to Swimming With Shark Records, how has the experience been being signed to them?
The best part of being on the label has been getting to know the other bands, like Commotio Cordis, Mouth of the Serpent, Thy Devourer, Vile Impurity, and Bow Prometheus. It's a microcosm of badassery.
Q: Your music is a blend of death metal, black metal, grind, hardcore, and technical. Why did you choose to use so many elements in your music?
We just put what we like to listen to into our songs and try to blend them as best we can. It’s not a conscious effort necessarily, we just write what we want to hear, and so far it’s been working out.
Q: What are your plans for 2013?
1. Play lots of really good shows
2. Release an EP
3. Produce a music video
4. More merch
5. Repeat
Q: Do you have any shout outs to give to the readers?
