Interview with Captive Eyes!

Genre(s): Hardcore/Metalcore
Location: Richmond, VA

PSAB: Where does the band name "Captive Eyes" come from?

CE: Our name is based off the original name our drummer and rhythm guitarist came up with when they formed the band, but when our vocalist joined he altered it to be we have now. And basically we tell people that the name Captive Eyes means to be trapped inside your mind or to be prisoner of your own thoughts.

PSAB: Your song "Nothing" was featured on We Are Triumphant's sampler recently. How has the feedback been for that song?

CE: The feedback has been amazing especially since "Nothing" was the first song we ever released. Playing it is always a highlight of our live shows and we're honored and thankful for everything that's happened. Releasing "Nothing" set us on the right course as a new band and the response is showing us that we have what it takes to be a staple in the modern metal scene.

PSAB: If you had the chance to share the stage with any band, which band would that be?

CE: If we could share the stage with any band it would probably be Vildhjarta because in the early stages of the band formation while we were all starting to jam and get to know each other Vildhjarta was a band we that we connected us through our mutual love for them. We don't have any direct Vildhjarta influences, but we had great times as friends hanging out and listening to their music.

PSAB: How is the local metal scene in Richmond, VA?

CE: The metal scene in Richmond is great; music in general in Richmond is great. Even though the past few months have been rough since a major venue closed and some bands have broken up, Richmond metal is going strong and local shows are doing great.

PSAB: What bands did you listen to growing up, and do those bands play an influence on your music now?

CE: Bands that I, (Omari Dickens the bassist of CE) grew up listening to we're bands like Pantera, Richmond Hardcore bands like Down to Nothing, and noise bands like The Chariot. They play an influence on how I contribute to the band because I want thing to be raw and heavy and because I push for our live shows to be full of energy and unpredictable.

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to your fans, and the readers out there?

CE: Lastly to all our fans or people just starting to check us out keep an eye out because we'll be releasing our debut EP soon.
