Interview with Improper Burial!

Genre(s): Progressive Deathcore
Location: Derby, KS
PSAB: Where does the band name “Improper Burial” come from?

IB: The name improper burial was picked by our two guitarists Andrew and Jacob one night while they were drinking some beers. They were talking about how not giving a person an appropriate burial was considered really bad luck in most cultures and religions so it just came to.

PSAB: You released your album Forced Lobotomy back in late 2013. How has the feedback been for that album?

IB:  Overall the feedback has been really good considering we tracked the whole thing out of our guitarists basement. But people seem to dig it and we put a lot of work into the album itself. I just cant wait to see what we drop next.

PSAB: What bands did you listen to growing up? Do those same bands influence your music now?

IB: I mainly grew up on Metallica, Nirvana, The Offspring, Korn, and Disturbed. But as far as today goes the only bands that might be influencing our sounds overall would probably be Metallica and Nirvana.

PSAB: Why did you choose to play the type of metal you play?

IB: We've just developed our own sound and its heavy and progressive.

PSAB: What is the local metal scene like in Derby, KS?

IB: The city of Derby itself isn't really a hub for the music scene but its neighboring cities, Wichita and Haysville on the other hand. Have a descent scene but its nothing like it was three years ago or so.

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to the readers and fans out there?

IB: We'd like to thank anyone and everyone thats bought our album or attended a show we've played. We appreciate your continued support and we'll keep doing it as long as we enjoy what we do and our fans love what we do.

Questions answered by Kody Richardson, the vocalist of the band.
