Band: Micawber
Genre: Deathcore / Death Metal
Q: Where did the band name "Micawber" come from?
Honestly we found the name by just searching Google for "cool words" when we were in like 8th grade, but the name has come to mean a lot to us and represents us very well. Micawber is a character in David Copperfield by Charles Dickens who has extreme financial problems, but is always hopeful that the future will look better.

The official Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition of the word is: "one who is poor but lives in optimistic expectation of better fortune". Even though the name didn't have much meaning for us at first over the years we have definitely kind of grown into it. We are all broke as shit, work shitty part time jobs, and put all the money we make into this band because we're all optimistic that it really will end up going somewhere someday. And even if it doesn't you can never beat driving around the country playing music with your best friends, even if you're not getting paid.
Q: You're currently not signed to any record label; which label would like to be signed to the most?
We've been doing our best to get some label backing for our next release, but there really is no one label in particular that we would like to sign to most. We're pretty much looking for a label that will work with us to ensure that we can stay on the road as much as possible, and get us as much exposure as possible without taking all of our money haha. Getting "signed" is really just a word when it comes down to it anyways, we've been doing everything ourselves from the beginning of this band and we are fine with that.

Lots of bands are sitting around waiting for things to happen for them, and when they don't they assume it's because they're not on a label. You can do anything in a DIY band that a band on a label can do, you just have to actually put a couple years of work in before you'll start to see the growth. I'm not going to say that we are never going to sign a record deal if we get the chance with the right label, but if we don't we will continue to run this band ourselves.
Q: Your album, Viral, recently released. How was the feedback upon release, and can we expect the same heaviness in the upcoming music?
The feedback we've gotten from Viral this past year has been incredibly positive, and has made us even more excited to record this new album. The new material we've been working on is by far the best stuff we've written yet. We put out a single from the album called "Mass Exodus" with our new vocalist Quentin Biggs back in December, so if you want a preview of the direction our writing has been going in check that out.
Q: You've been around 2007, and played dozens of shows. Which show has been your favorite so far?

I think it's safe to say that that would be the time we were given the opportunity to open up for Cannibal Corpse in Eau Claire this year. That was by far the biggest show that we have ever played and every second of it ruled. Eau Claire in general rules, definitely one of our favorite places to play in Wisconsin. Besides the Cannibal show, we opened up for Dying Fetus and Goatwhore back in March of 2012 and that was another killer one.
Q: How is the underground metal scene in Green Bay, WI?
Q: How is the underground metal scene in Green Bay, WI?
The Green Bay metal scene is slowly but surely growing into something awesome. There are LOTS of good bands, and good dudes that are working their asses off to put on shows, and thanks to our good buddies at Brutal Beats Productions we've been seeing a lot of national acts start to come through Green Bay. There is definitely potential for Green Bay to become one of the best metal scenes in the state, and we're really excited to see what the future brings for the area.
Q: What are your immediate plans for 2013?
Q: What are your immediate plans for 2013?
We're heading out for 2 weeks in February, so check out our tour dates and see if any shows are coming near you! After that we're taking a break to continue writing the next record, and we're hopefully going to be hitting the studio to start tracking it by early summer. Besides that we're going to stay on the road as much as we can, but we don't have any solid tour plans besides February. Keep an eye out for new songs, and new tour dates all coming real soon!
Q: Do you have any shout outs to give?
