Q: What was your reasons for using the name "Party Cannon" for your band?

Chris: We wanted a name that suitably captured what we're about really. We're all really into brutal music, but never found the whole image of "being brutal" appealing. We just wanted to have fun playing music and feel natural doing it, not have to conform to other people’s expectations of musical aesthetics. To sum it up, it's kind of an anti-image grind thing, brutal music without the pressure of being grimly serious.

Q: How is the local metal scene in Dunfermline, Scotland?

Chris: The worst. We are literally the only Death Metal band in Dunfermline. There's a cool crust band called Burt Ward, but that's it, it's all either Alter Bridge-sounding stuff or beatdown brocore.

Q: What bands have played an influence on your music?

Chris: We all listen to a lot of different kinds of music, but the main influences that come through in our own would be bands like Gorgasm, Dying Fetus, Vomit The Soul, Exhumed, The Afternoon Gentlemen, Blasphemer (Italy), Devourment, Vomitous etc. You get the picture, bands with chuns and meedlies.

Q: Are there any record labels you would like to be signed to, if you had the chance?

We're not too concerned with labels, we're quite happy with the freedom being a DIY brings us. However, if we were given the right offer from a label like Permeated or Brutal Bands (before the guy did a runner) we'd consider it. I'd hate to be in the position of a label trying to push us as a gimmick because they don't understand our ethos.

Q: When can we expect a new album/EP?

 

Chris: We're releasing a three track EP called "Partied In Half" around August time. Planning on having it mixed/mastered at 16^th Cellar Studio in Italy. There's a preview of the artwork on our Facebook just now.

Q: What are your plans for 2013?

Play gigs, drop slams.

We’re always trying to get to new places. We have a bunch of really cool shows up lined up all over the UK and Ireland as well as Rape The Escape Festival in Austria this December. Looks like fests in Italy and Holland are on the cards, but we can't reveal anything yet.
