Interview with Icarus Complex!

Band: Icarus Complex
Genre: Progressive Metalcore

Q: Where does the band name "Icarus Complex" come from?

It comes from the mental complex of the same name - it's the idea of setting our goals higher and higher until you can't possibly succeed and then just crashing and burning. (Though we really hope we don't crash and burn haha)

Q: Your album, Dreaming of Night, came out in June. How was the feedback when it was released?

We didn't hear anything bad so hopefully everyone liked it!

Q: How is the local metal scene in Brisbane?

It's pretty close knit. Everyone is friends with everyone which is really good - everyone is really supportive.

Q: What bands play an influence on your music the most?

It varies for everyone but some common ground is definitely Periphery, Iron Maiden, Lamb of God, Born of Osiris, Art by Numbers, Numb3rs, Human Abstract. Everyone in the band is into really different stuff - so it's really difficult to pinpoint anything down.

Q: If you could play with any band, broken up or not, which band would that be?

Definitely Human Abstract or Strapping Young Lad. Alex wants me to point out that he'd also love to play with 4 Non Blondes.

Q: What are your plans for rest of the year?

We're planning to release a single or 2, a cover, start pre-pro on our album (for release early next year) and then try to tour as much as we can this year.

Q: Do you have any shout outs to give to the readers?

Just a bunch of other local bands - our bros in Irukandji, Kyzer Soze, sending Artax, nemesystem, and Cam at via studios. Also a shout out to Alex's mum for continuing on even though the rubber broke - without that we wouldn't have a vocalist.
