Interview with Armaros!

Band: Armaros
Genre: Deathcore

Q: Where does the band name "Armaros" come from?

"Armaros" was the eleventh on a list of 20 leaders of a group of 200 fallen angels called Grigori or "Watchers" in the book of Enoch. The name means 'cursed one,' which we as a band felt related to us as previous bands had tried and failed. So as well as being a kick ass demon name it has meaning behind it, but hopefully this time it might lift this 'curse.'

Q: What is the local metal scene like in Sunderland, UK?

Over the past 5 years it's had it's ups and downs, it's been a little quiet the last year but with bands like Nexilva, releasing new material and ourselves coming onto the scene we're looking at a revival and making it bigger and better than ever. We all like to work together and as well as Nexilva you have The Ascension of Isaiah who you can garuntee will be making it big in the next couple of years.

Q: Your debut EP, Watchers, comes out in a month. What can we expect from this EP?

It's been all about finding our defining sound and what we will enjoy playing ourselves as well as making sure it's going to sound the best it possibly can be. We've fused together some classic sounding deathcore with djent influences and some really trance inspired synths. I fully believe there is nothing like it about now and if there is, it's pretty unheard of. The lyrical content is all about coming out strong and keeping your head held high in whatever situation you're in, so as well as some pretty hard hitting breakdowns and riffs, we are trying to inspire as much as we are trying to provoke.

Q: What play an influence on your music? This could be music or non music related.

Situations I have been in and situations I've seen people in, current affairs and what I don't like about things that are going on with the world. We draw inspiration with the music from our favourite artists. A lot of this EP has come from bands like Suicide Silence, Heart of a Coward and Hactivist but don't expect a clone of those bands. That was our starting point and we spent 4 months in the studio with this EP experimenting with our sound and getting the best results possible.

Q: If you could be signed to any record label, which label would that be and why?

It would probably have to be Sumerian Records. They are entirely dedicated and the standard of bands on their roster is unbelievable. Some of my favourite bands are on there and the level of work they do parallel with Sumerian is above the standard of any other labels out there!

Q: What are your goals for this year after your EP releases?

Once it's out there it's onto pushing ourselves out there, grabbing what shows we can, hopefully we'll be headed out on tour in the second half of the year. But it's going to be a full out invasion of the UK. If we can pull of any other dates we'll be sure to do everything we can to take the opportunity too. There will also be a music video and we'll have some merch to put out as well. But aside from that, it's relentless gigging to get our name out there!

Q: Do you have any shout outs to give to the readers?

Just if you like us please give us a like, tell your friends and tell your local promoters so we can play a show near you! Keep supporting your locals bands and if you're in a band too, keep at it. Never stop. The music industry is constantly changing, only we can keep it alive.
