Interview with Quintessence of Versatility!

Band: Quintessence of Versatility
Genre: Deathcore / Metalcore

Q: Where does the band name "Quintessence of Versatility" come from exactly?

Originally we wanted a name reflecting how we were thinking our music, uniting all our influences, so here it is: the Quintessence of Versatility, unification of many different things, aiming to extract the best of it in our songs.

Q: What has been your biggest accomplishment thus far concerning the band?

You know the French metal scene is something very difficult, even if you're a professional musician, it is quite impossible to live with your music in extreme scenes, so for now the main accomplishment so far is simple : never loose money on a gig. Then of course sharing stage with bands we love, and having good time on stage with all the people supporting our music. The best is still to come!

Q: How is the metal scene in Nantes/Rennes/Vannes, France?

Well, I may not being making friends by saying that, but there is too few serious bands, and too few serious promoters. Then there is no unity between the scenes and the people form different scenes. One of our aims is simply going to the United States / Canada one day for some tours, cause we're upset with how things are going in France in our scene. Anyway even if it is very difficult for us, we carry on and keep making our music and shows the best we can, and everywhere we can play.

Q: If you could be signed to any label, which label would that be and why?

Never really think about a precise Label for the moment, I think we'll think about it when our album will be fully ready, but we'll probably work with a USA Label for worldwide deal (mainly for touring USA) or maybe one in USA, one in Europe ... there are many opportunities, and all are depending on our album! So we'll see that as soon as possible.

Q: Your sound has a lot of different elements, why do you choose to have a lot of different genres in your music compared to just one?

One genre is just boring don't you think? Most seriously I think the future in music, especially in extremes genres, is in the unity of different kind of music, and then, who could be better than the greatest 20-years-experience bands of each music style? If we wanna get recognized for something, I prefer being recognized for the originality and the work in our music conception than for just following a precise music style codes. Then we all have different influences, that won't be fair to not express them in our songs!

Q: What are your goals for this year?

Well for this year, the line-up changed a lot and we are mainly working on our first Album, who will be full of new things, we have contacts with some of the greatest names of USA extreme music producers to make this album, so it will really be something good I think. We don't make lot of shows but we are preparing a large amount of things, like preprod songs, new photos & artwork, new video clip, partnerships... we're kinda busy as you can see!

Q: Do you have any shout outs to give to the readers?

Does an exclusive pre-production for an unfinished song would be good ? This is maybe the fourth version of the song, and we already made lot of changes on it since we've recorded it, but as this had already been leaked, I can share it a bit, and this is the best I can do for the moment as there are lot of things on their way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrRGLBMCoJM

Then would like to thank you again for your interest in our band, thank you to all the readers, and big thanks to all the friends that follow our work since the beginning and trust our project.

All questions answered by Guillaume Gandon, the vocalist of QoV.
