Band: Eastfrisian Terror
Genre: Death Metal / Grindcore
Q: Where does the band name "Eastfrisian Terror" come from?
Moin
Micah! The band name "Eastfrisian Terror" was my idea. I took a shower
when I was thinking about a cool name for the band. We come from
Eastfrisia and we raise terror - so the name was born. The best ideas
come under the shower or while shitting into the toilet.
Q: What is the local metal scene like in Emden?
Emden
has a big variety of bands in different genres. But it's significant
that a lot of brutal bands come from Emden such as "Weakaside",
"Anasarca", "Blixxem" or "Eastfrisian Terror". There are a lot of
experienced musicians around and places to rehearse and even though some
famous bands such as "Meatknife",“Fearer“, Vomiting Corpses“or
„Morsgatt“ broke up in the past - extreme music made in Emden will never
die!
Q: What bands play an influence on your music the most and why?
Our
drummer Möwenshitter is very much into bands such as "Machetazo" and
"Gorgasm", our guitarist Grindopa Alli likes any Grind band but also
old-school Death Metal bands - to mention some bands maybe "Nasum" or
"Possessed", our second guitarist Blähboy got influenced by Thrash Metal
bands such as "Kreator" and "Slayer" but on the other hand also by
melodic Death/Black Metal bands as well.
Our bassist Björn has his
influences more in modern style bands but likes also Death Metal bands
such as "Death" or "Carcass" and I got influenced by any band with blast
beats (a life without blast beats is possible - but totally
senseless). I'm a big fan of Cryptopsy, Origin, Benighted and Gorgasm,
but I like the old way, too (death and thrash).
Q: When did you get the motivation to start creating music? Was this at random or were there events leading up to it?
Grindopa
Alli, Blähboy and I started early in the 90-years with our first bands
"Meatknife", "Necrobiosis" and "Tears Of Decay". Möwenshitter and Björn
are a bit younger than our first mentioned dead meat (I'm just kidding).
They started creating music somewhere after 2000. The reasons for
creating music were the big movement in the scene with some really
interesting bands playing a brutal style.
Just to give you one example
for an leading event: our guitarist Blähboy saw a documentation about
the german Thrash Metal band "Kreator" on television and was totally
fascinated by it. In general I think that the first bought LP/CD gave
the kick to start a band, too - and this LP/CD was mainly bought because
of the cover or a friend told something about the album. To that time
Thrash and Death Metal were a new expression of music and had a big
impact on us.
Q: If you could play with any band live ever, which band would that be and why?
Yeah, this is a good question as we have different favourite bands. Maybe:
- Napalm Death / because they're a legend in the Grind scene due to their first releases (maybe until "Harmony Corruption") Nasum / because they're still one of the most exciting Grind bands. Gorgasm / because Möwenshitter is speaking about nothing else since last week, but I'm the bigger fan, hehe. Cannibal Corpse / because they still have the same attitude then to early times and are one of the greatest Death Metal bands ever

It's
really difficult to answer because there are a lot of more bands worth
to get mentioned here. But we're very happy to confirm that we're
playing together with "Macabre" next Saturday in Wermelskirchen - this is really cool.
Q: What are your plans for the rest of this year?
We're
playing further gigs together with the swedish shooting stars
"Puteraeon" and "Revel In Flesh" and german legend "Morgoth" and
„Demonical“ and we're searching for a lable which will release our first
full-length-CD which we want to record (if possible) still this year.
Furtheron we'll do new songs and try to get even more gigs and spread
the eastfrisian terror all over the world.
Q: Do you have any shout outs to give?
