Interview with Get JIGGY With It!

PSAB: Where does the band name "Get JIGGY With It" come from exactly? I am safe to assume it is in relation to Will Smith's song from the 90s?

GJWI: Well, even though Will Smith is the fuckin' man and we love his music, the name originally had nothing to do with him or his song "Get Jiggy Wit It." Before Get JIGGY With It was an established band, me (the vocalist) and the guitarist used to just record and write random stuff for shits and giggles, mostly deathcore, and one day before we started recording, he was like, "Alright, let's get jiggy with it." and I was like, "Dude. Band name." And it was pretty much as simple as that. Afterwards we recorded our first EP, "Praise the Lord," which was all about Tony Stewart, in about a half an hour.

 

PSAB: When can we expect your upcoming full length Skull Smasher? Later this year?

GJWI: Although we have no set release date, you can probably expect to see the album come out around summer time this year. 

 

PSAB: On that note, how soon will we see the teaser video for that album? Within this month?

GJWI: Yes, the teaser should be out by the end of the month, or beginning of February if all goes well. It should be low budget and very entertaining. 

 

PSAB: How is the local metal scene in Lancaster, PA?

GJWI: It's actually pretty sweet. I mean, it's mostly metalcore and progressive stuff, but it's something. There are a few local deathcore bands around though as well, such as The Valenzetti Equation, who we're pretty tight with. Check 'em out.

 

PSAB: What bands have played the most influence on your music?

GJWI: Well, I could sit here and list a bunch of bands that we're all into, but what Get JIGGY With It is really about, is the easy going brutality and fun. We all love old school deathcore, like Jerome, I Ate Everybody, old Chelsea Grin, We Are The End, and The Irish Front to name a few. Deathcore back in the day was all about having a good time and fucking shit up. Metal today is too serious, I think. We're just here to put some fun back into deathcore, have a good time, and make some brutal fucking music.

 

PSAB: Have any shout outs to give to your fans and the readers out there?

GJWI: You guys are all fucking awesome. We never thought Get JIGGY With It would ever go anywhere, but where we are has already passed our expectations, and it's all 'cause of you guys. Hopefully we can keep growing, eventually get more established and start playing some shows and making a name for our selves within the deathcore realm.
