Interview with Extortionist!

Genre(s): Deathcore/Hardcore

PSAB: Why did you choose the name “Extortionist” for your band?

ETI: Well first off it is always hard thinking of band names. So to be honest I brought up the name Extortionist cause I always thought it had a fitting meaning for the style of music that we are going for.

PSAB: How was the feedback when you released your single "Rejection"?

ETI: The feedback has been decent. It could be much better. It definitely hasn't gotten as much attention as our single "Dead Ends". But looks like we will just have to push it harder!

PSAB: You're currently signed to We Are Triumphant, how has the experience been being signed to them?

ETI: The experience has been pretty good so far. It has gotten our name out there quite a bit. So far its been helping and done more good for us.

PSAB: What is the local metal scene like in Post Falls, Idaho?

ETI: Well, Post Falls Idaho doesn't have a scene that's just where a majority of us live. Our scene is 25 mins away in the city of Spokane WA. The scene is great all the shows have good turn outs and everyone does like group activities outside of shows and everyone hangs out with each other. It's more like a GIANT friend group. I grew up in this scene and its always been very supportive of its local bands. Extortionist does great here and its fun seeing all of my friends shout the words to our songs.

There is a wide variety of music styles here but no matter what the style a good amount of people always show up. But we wouldn't have this music scene that we have if it weren't for Ryan Levey. He has being working hard on the Spokane music scene for years and many big bands really appreciate his work when they roll through. We cant thank him enough for what he has done for us in our past bands and current bands and for the music scene in general.

PSAB: Which bands have played the most influence on your music?

ETI: Well i cant say many bands have influenced us much with our music we just kind of went for a style and stuck with it but some influences of ours are bands like Slipknot, All shall Perish, Thy Art is Murder, Nails, Deftones, The Acacia Strain, Bury Your Dead and many others.

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give the readers out there and your fans?

ETI: I just want to thank everyone that has supported us and gave us a chance. From our friends here in our home town and from the people across the world that have supported us as well. It seriously means a lot! Get ready for our upcoming EP titled "The Black Sheep" coming soon!

All questions answered by Ben, the vocalist.
