Interview with From The Eyes of Erra!

Genre(s): Progressive Deathcore

PSAB: Where does the band name "From the Eyes of Erra" come from exactly?

FTEOE: The name From the Eyes of Erra came from finding out about the mythical Akkadian god of pestilence and mayhem...pretty fuckin' metal. So, we built a name with it, and thought phrase From the Eyes of Erra had good imagery and ring to it. Funny thing is, we found out about the band Erra, who is signed and tour nationally and steadily getting more known. With our name sounding like we're the result of a 'go to hell' look Erra shot somebody, we decided to change our name. Our new name is Kythera, which came from finding the Antikythera mechanism--an ancient analog computer designed to predict astronomical positions and eclipses. We thought Kythera sounds cool, and said yeah, let's roll with that.

PSAB: Your EP Chosen released a while back. How was the feedback upon release and how is the feedback now?

FTEOE: The feedback on the new EP has been great, both on release and every time someone new hears us.

PSAB: When can the fans expect a new EP from you? Sometime this year?

FTEOE: We have begun writing again and have a few songs under construction. The plan is to have a new EP by late fall of 2014

PSAB: If you could be signed to any label, which label would that be and why?

FTEOE: Metal Blade would be the first choice, based on the fact a lot of bands we love are on with them. They seem to prioritize great music over subgenre or trends.

PSAB: How is the local metal scene in Dyersburg, TN?

FTEOE: Dyersburg is a small town, but has a surprising volume of metal heads that'll come out and support bands.

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to your fans?

FTEOE: Gotta give the first shout to our fans and friends, it's a huge part of why we do this. Wanna specifically mention Ben Wright and Paul Gooch, both of whom did guest vocal spots on the EP. Tom Hocker, owner of Knox Asylum Records and Broken Neck Radio, who has supported us in various ways. Eric Matson from Metal Local (Tennesse chapter). Our buddies Evince, who are another local band, and who rip!
