Interview with Overcoming The End!

Genre(s): Metalcore/Progressive
Location: Berlin, EU

PSAB: Where did the band name “Overcoming The End” come from exactly?

OTE: We have had many difficult situations in our lifes. One year ago, our old band disbanded because of personel reason between our members. I wasn't even sure, if we both would make music together again. we had many complicated situations in our lives and we didn't know where our paths would lead us to. There were times when we questioned everything and were even talking about 'the end'. With the name 'Overcoming The End' we want to deliver, that even if there are hugh changes in your life eradicating everything good before, it's not the end of the story. the change itself is the step to overcome your self-proclaimed end.

PSAB: When can your fans expect new music from you?

OTE: We hit the studio last December and worked on our debut full-length album, which is a concept album about a man living in our world in the year 2399 - this shows many parallels to the world, we currently live in. The tracking is already finished and our stuff has just to be mixed and mastered. We expect it to be finished in the fall 2014.

PSAB: If you had the chance to any musician featured in your music. What musician would that be?

OTE: It would definitely be either Alex Koehler (Chelsea Grin) or Spencer Chamberlain (Sleepwave; Ex-Underoath) because they both were a huge influence in our music life. A guitar solo played by John Petrucci in one song would also be really awesome!

PSAB: What is the local metal scene like in Berlin, EU?

OTE: We moved here 2 months ago because of the great metal scene here. International bands like War From a Harlots Mouth, Science Of Sleep or We Butter The Bread With Butter have their roots here and Berlin is the chance for us to move forward.

PSAB: Which bands play the most influence on your music?

OTE: We are influenced by many different kinds of music. The greatest influence certainly comes from deathcore bands like Chelsea Grin, Fit For An Autopsy, Whitechapel or Thy Art Is Murder. But we're also influenced by rock bands like Fall Out Boy, Papa Roach, A Day To Remember or Hoobastank and metal/hardcore bands like Underoath, Parkway Drive or Architects. Otherwise, the symphonic aspect of our music comes from bands like Evanescence, Nightwish or Lacuna Coil. We just don't want to do the same kind of music, that every deathcore band plays today - we want to have our own progressive style.

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to your fans?

OTE: We are Overcoming The End - a new, ambitious band from Europe - and we would be really happy about your support! Our debut full-length album will be released in a few months and we hope to have your attention for it! \m/
