Interview with Survive The Wasteland!

Band: Survive The Wasteland
Genre: Death Metal

Q: Where does the band name "Survive The Wasteland" come from?

Our name has a strong relation with our lyric content. Our songs are like metaphors criticizing the self destruction of man. We talk about religion, greed, politics and other beliefs that are guiding our kind to misery and swallowing the vital resources of our planet. That's why we chose to call ourselves Survive the Wasteland.

Q: What is the local metal scene like in Porto, Portugal?

Although Porto is a cultural spot with a lot of history and culture mixes, people tend to go to hardcore and punk shows more than anything else. On the other hand there are a lot of talented and underrated bands that, in our eyes, don't receive proper recognition for their work.

Q: You're currently signed to FiveByFive Records. How has the experience been being signed to them?

We are working independently in terms of physical distribution, promotion and bookig. FiveByFive Records is, for now, only an extra support that we hope will help us in the future. Although we are still looking for a label to release our upcoming full-length album.

Q: When can we expect new material from you? Also will be similar to your EP Devour

We will start recording our first album at the end of this year, and we hope it is ready to release early next year. You can expect an evolution of Devour, which  was the beginning of our story and concept. The new release will be absolutely neck breaking. Just wait for it!

Q: What plays an influence on your music? This could be music related or not be music related.

We have a very strong influence of death metal bands like Suffocation, Spawn of Possession,  Aborted, Whitechapel, Job for a Cowboy, Beneath the Massacre and many others. Other things that guide us through our music are social and environment problems, and the ephemeral nature of all the things.

Q: What are your plans for the rest of this summer?

We will be composing new material and giving one or two concerts.

Q: Do you have any shout outs to give?

For all of our fans, if you really want to help us, we have our Merchandise available at www.survivethewasteland.com / www.facebook.com/survivethewasteland. Thanks for your support!
