Interview with Goodnight Irene!

Genre(s): Deathcore/Death Metal

PSAB: Where does the band name "Goodnight Irene" come from, and why did you choose that for your band name?

GI: The name Goodnight Irene actually came to be as a joke, we were sitting around one day very early on and someone made a reference to a fight. They said something like "Bam, Goodnight Irene!", then we tossed the idea of naming the band that, and it just kind of stuck.

PSAB: You released an album back in 2013 called Malevolence. How was the feedback upon release and how is the feedback now?

GI: The feedback on Malevolence has been awesome, everyone has given us lots of kind words, and support. Thank you guys, we're extremely grateful!

PSAB: You're currently signed to Brutal Tooth Records. How is the experience being signed to them?

GI: Brutal Tooth has been pretty cool, they've opened a lot of opportunities that have helped us push things to the next level. It's a pretty awesome experience.

PSAB: What bands have played the most influence on your music?

GI: There are definitely too many to name them all, but a few big ones are, Suicide Silence, Whitechapel, Chelsea Grin, and Thy Art is Murder.

PSAB: What are your plans for the upcoming summer? Tour? Record?

GI: We have a really busy summer and year ahead of us, we're currently writing material for our debut full length release, which we hope to record and release sometime this year, we have a tour lined at the end of April, and a couple of other tours that are in the works. We really want to get out there and connect with fans.

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to your fans and the readers out there?

GI: We want to give a huge shout out to anyone who has ever shown us any kind of support, saw us live, listened to our music, liked our Facebook page, or helped us out in any way. We really couldn't do this without any of you, we're truly thankful.
