We're Moving (to Wordpress)!

Yup, that's right, PSAB's moving. But not really, just taking everything here and throwing it over onto Wordpress. Nothing will be changing at all with what's posted. There'll be reviews on a weekly basis, done by some of the great reviewers I've hired. Also, there'll be live interviews still going on, and probably more news being posted (in the process of hiring people for that as well).

The only thing not going over to Wordpress will be the 'music downloads' page. I haven't posted music downloads since late of 2013, as I was scared that the site would be taken down (even though they're all legal, and from Bandcamp).

Don't worry! If you still haven't plowed through the fields of music, it'll still be there after the switch. This site will remain as is, except the URL will be switched to the WP website (reverting back to pigsquealsandbreakdowns.blogspot.com).

Other than that! Thanks for the people who keep up with what's posted here, and expect more to come in the future!

Oh, and, not to forget; the site will release in beta form. This is being done because the plan was to release it back in 2014, but Tony (highly appreciated PSAB developer) and I became busier over the course of that year. So the site took a backseat, only to be messed with ever so often. But, instead of waiting until everything is perfect, I believe it'd be best to release it in BETA, and work as we go.

The Last Ten Seconds of Life Release New Album 'Soulless Hymns'!

"Pennsylvania heavies THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE release their third full-length, SOULLESS HYMNS, today on Density Records. At once their most accomplished and articulate record yet, Soulless Hymns has been hailed as “…one of the most psychologically immersive and aggressive offerings heavy music has seen in years. Picture-perfect guitar tones, relentless percussion and limitless vocal variety define The Last Ten Seconds of Life’s latest album as their magnum opus, an album so intense it guts and skins the listener, leaving them hopeless, boneless and soulless.” – New Transcendence (10/10).

Pairing pummeling music with intelligent, thought-provoking lyrics, the new album was produced by Carson Slovak and engineer Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio in Lancaster, PA last fall.

“This record really captures the sound we have live; it definitely has a crushing sound. It’s full, and it’s thick, and there’s so much low end,” says guitarist and key songwriter Wyatt McLaughlin. “The tones for the guitar and bass are finally how I want them to sound… Each album’s unique, and I’ll always love them all, but this one’s just out of control.”

The band—which also includes vocalist Storm Strope, drummer Christian Fisher and bassist Anthony Madara—formed in 2010 in northern central Pennsylvania, while the members were attending Mansfield University. Taking their name from a Smiths lyric, by 2011 they were already off touring, playing their own self-booked gigs, and then self-released their debut album, Know Your Exits, in October of that year. After touring extensively in support of that release the band dropped their next full-length, Invivo/[Exvivo], in 2013. Widely considered another step forward for the group, the record led to high-profile runs like the “Hate Across America Tour,” also featuring Thy Art Is Murder, I Declare War, Fit For An Autopsy and Kublai Khan, and more recently, the Periphery Tour, along with Born of Osiris.
 
The Last Ten Seconds of Life is currently on the Upon A Burning Body, Veil of Maya co-headline tour along with Volumes and Gideon presented by Revolver Magazine.  The trek began in Atlanta, Georgia at Masquerade on January 8^th and stops in Philadelphia, New York, Detroit, San Francisco and other major cities before wrapping up on January 31^st in Los Angeles, California at the legendary Roxy.  Current dates, along with a handful of upcoming headline shows, are below.

Ingested's New Album 'The Architect of Extinction' Releases Today!

Slam death metal band, Ingested, drops their long awaited new album The Architect of Extinction today through Century Media Records. This album follows their highly praised (and sought after) EP Revered By No One, Feared By All, which dropped late 2013.

Vulvodynia Announces New EP 'Finis Omnium Ignorantiam' - Shows New Artwork!

Slam deathcore band, Vulvodynia, announced earlier today they'll be dropping a new EP, titled Finis Omnium Ignorantiam, later on this year. Also, they showed snippets of the EP's artwork (see above); which is beautifully done by Mindrape Art. Here's the full announcement,

Interview with Arreat Summit!

PSAB: Where does the band name "Arreat Summit" come from? 

AS: It comes from a zone in the computer game "Diablo II, Lord of destruction". Most of us are into computer games and we just thought it had a nice ring to it. Barbarians rule! 

 

PSAB: You released a music video for your song "Horror Below" about a week ago. How was the experience making and filming the video? 

AS: So we drove out to some abandoned ruins by the side of the highway in subzero temperature. The environment, temperature and darkness gave it a creepy dark look. It was cold as a motherfucker but we all fought through it and finished recording after a few hours. We like the concept of DIY (do it yourself) so with the help of Katrin “Wanny” Berndt we managed to pull if off without any previous experience of music videos. We are stoked to record another video soon! 

 

PSAB: If you were given the chance to tour any country. Which country would that be? 

AS: We're all in love with the US. Regarding both culture and metal scene. Many of our favorite bands tour there each album cycle so it would be a dream to come with as an opening act. Another country that would be cool to tour is Germany, who seams to have the healthiest heavy metal scene in Europe and our music will probably fit right in. 

 

PSAB: If you were given unlimited funds to improve your local metal scene, how would you go about it? 

AS: First of we'd fund the local venues, so they can afford to pay the bands performing. The biggest problem being in a band and wanting to travel to a show is the gas/food/gage-price. Even if it's not much, it's difficult not ending up spending a lot of money for each show. The scene in Sweden is kind of weak at the moment, where bands compete against each other and people are not willing to go out to shows, even if they are for free. This might be because the metal (and music scene) in Sweden is oversaturated with good bands. Another idea that might work is to have a good website that can give some good publicity for all the gigs. You got some unlimited funds coming our way? Paypal us plz

 

PSAB: What are your hobbies, outside of music? 

AS: Computer- or console games including World of Warcraft, Dota2, Counterstrike, Hearthstone Gears Of War etc. Some of us try to go to the gym regularly in order to not suffer the consequences of our frequent visits to Burger King and other fast food restaurants. Sonny has another band called “Placing The Blame” and Matthias has “Deviant Breed”.

"So, we’ve long been mostly silent and short on details for our new album until now. We’ve been taking our time and making sure the cake is cooked to absolute perfection, but now we’re ready to begin unveiling what we feel is our Magnum Opus.

Odyssey to the West is a concept album that combines a more emotionally mature approach to our songwriting with a visceral and poetic lyrical take on biblical allegory and meta-narrative, exploring themes such as archetypes, the nature of narrative itself, universal symbolism, spiritual alchemy and recurrence.

Benighted Announces New Live CD/DVD 'Brutalive The Sick'!

Death metal/grind band out of France announced earlier today they will be releasing a CD/DVD titled Brutalive The Sick. The scenes will be taken from the Sylak Open Air 2014 show in France. The album will consist of 13 tracks performed live by the band. They announced this on Facebook,

Ion Dissonance Release New Song "Ill Will"

Veteran to the deathcore scene, Ion Dissonance, released a new song from their upcoming new demo MMXIV. The new song is titled "Ill Will," and it's about a minute and 30 seconds long. This only gives you a taste of what they have in store. They announced the new song, and album, via their Facebook,

"The wait is finally over… We would like to thank you all for your patience and support. Nevertheless, here is Ion Dissonance’s way of saying thank you.

We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Dominic Grimard from ‘The Last Felony’ into the Ion Dissonance family. For those who know us well, you know that we have a nasty habit of recycling up guitarists to play bass for us. Dominic is no exception to this rule. The guy shreds, and we are happy to have him helping us out with Bass duties. For those of you wondering, Yanic is still involved with the band and helping with the recording process. Unfortunate health issues have forced him to step aside for now. We wish him all the best and a prompt recovery.
