Interview with Anoscope Penetration!

Genre(s): Slam/Nintendo Grindcore
Location: N/A

PSAB: Where does the band name "Anoscopy Penetration" come from exactly?

AP: I always had a joke with a couple of friends about getting ansocopies, so i guess that is what really popped up in my mind when i decided to make this band.

PSAB: How's the feedback been for your Redesigned Intestines EP?

AP: The feedback on the EP has been pretty awesome so far, i have a few guys who are constantly keeping up with posts, interacting and giving their thoughts on the tracks. Couldn't be happier!

PSAB: Why did you choose to play the genre that you do? It's an odd combination, nintendocore and slam.

AP: I just thought one day how cool would it be if you had 8-bit Mario Kart slam music and then it sort of became a reality when i started making the tracks.

PSAB: What bands play the most influence on your music?

AP: Well i decided to really push ahead this band when i was listen to Cemetery Rapist. I loved the drums patterns in "Wake Up to Bake Up" so i guess they are haha

PSAB: If you could release a split album with one other band, which band would that be?

AP: Well to be honest, i'd probably split with Internal Devour, those boys are on fire right now and i personally think they are brutal as fuck

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give?

AP: Shout out to the guys at Vulvodynia, keep doing what your doing, Big shout out to George from Breakdowns And Blast Beats!

Interview with Decimated Humans!

Genre(s): Slam Death Metal
Location: United States/Australia

PSAB: Why did you choose the name "Decimated Humans" for your band?

DH: The name has a little bit of a story behind it. I'll assume you want the detailed version, well basically it all roots back to middle school. I had a trio of friends, John, Adam and myself. We were all sick fucks in the sense that we were desensitized by playing incredibly violent video games back then such as Doom 3 for Xbox and stuff like that and we found violent things to be funny. Just typical 12 year olds nowadays I guess. I remember once during our period together in school, we were passing around a Mad Libs book. On a page that involved something to do with clown cars, Adam wrote something such as the car was used to "run over other humans" and when the Mad Libs book was passed over to me, I saw that sentence he wrote and I remember looking at that sentence and was really intrigued on how morbid that sounded; "killing other humans."

Like you're referring to people you're killing as "humans" almost as if you're not a human yourself. It came off really barbaric and interesting so since that day it kind of stuck. When we came up with the band name I scanned my mind for terms or phrases that sounded insanely violent and of course that memory floated up in my head. We play ridiculously brutal music and I really wanted to represent our name with something that involved giving off that same effect; to kill other people but make it seem like people are just "humans" to you. It's like killing cattle or deer, they're just cattle or deer to some people and because humans are not cattle or deer, some people kill them without remorse and can't emphasize what they're doing.

So that's the same equivalent to killing people as "humans", they're just humans and as a result, a murderer that sees them as just "humans" has no remorse or pity for the act of murdering other humans. So thus the name "Decimated Humans" came out of that. The true root of the idea of the band name really roots to my friend Adam way back then I guess (laughs). I really felt like it was a perfect name for this band.

PSAB: You're an Internet band. Why did you choose this route for a band instead of the traditional one?

DH: Well I didn't choose it, it just kind of came up. I was already involved in a couple other Internet projects before this honestly. I think one of the biggest reasons behind me scoping out to the Internet to create music is because no one around here is into stuff this heavy. I was in a few bands around the area such as how I was in metalcore band around here 2 years ago and we played in a couple shows and I was in a death/thrash band after that, but I never had a sense of fulfillment being in either of those bands and both of them ended up breaking up really quickly.

Doing an internet band finally gathered the people I needed who have a love for this same style of music to just write and create it. I know someday I will start a live band again. I've even considered taking some DH songs to the stage a couple times, just need to find the right people to do this with.

PSAB: If you could tour the country with any three bands, which bands would those be?

DH: I wanna say Suicide Silence, Kraanium and Aegaeon. I've been a fan of these three bands for quite some time now. Not to mention, I love when slam and deathcore tour and play shows together.

PSAB: You released your new album To Provoke Genocide back on the 8th of this month. Has the album been received well by your fans?

DH: The response was absolutely crazy. I am so glad people listened to it and gave us such an amazing response.

PSAB: What are your hobbies outside of creating music?

DH: I'm a bit of a nerd, I study all sorts of stuff such as culture outside in different countries. I also collect retro video games such as Super NES, N64 and GameCube games. That's pretty much how I spend my time on the Internet. I also go to school and I'm currently working towards my Bachelor of Science degree.

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to your fans, and the readers out there?

DH: Yeah, wanna give a thanks to everyone who supported us from the start. My parents, my friends, Cerebral Incubation, Parasitic Ejaculation, Phalloplasty, My Shadow Haunts Me, Party Cannon, Ferry Wolters, Tomm Swasthik and also Pig Squeals and Breakdowns for having me for this interview. I apologize if I forgot anyone else.

Interview with Vulvodynia!

Genre(s): Slam Death Metal
Location: Durban

PSAB: Where does the band name "Vulvodynia" come from exactly?

Vulvodynia: The band name comes from a chronic disease with no known cure, so we thought it would be fitting for the genre we play.

PSAB: You released your album Lord of Plagues back in May. How was the feedback for that album upon release, and are you still receiving feedback now?

Vulvodynia: The feedback for Lord Of Plagues was so much better than we could've ever imagined & we're extremely grateful for it.

PSAB: What are you interested in outside of making music? Your hobbies.

Vulvodynia: Personally, making music and going to gigs takes up a majority of my time.

PSAB: How is the metal scene in Durban?

Vulvodynia: The metal scene in Durban definitely has a shortage of bands at the moment, it feels like it's getting better though.

PSAB: What has played the most influence on your music?

Vulvodynia: The major influences for me would definitely be Acrania & all the deathcore bands that got me into heavier music.

PSAB: Have any shout outs to give?

Vulvodynia: Just Slam It, Brutal Gear, Morbid Generation Records, Ingested, Swine Overlord, Acrania, Malodorous, Maggot Colony.

Invert The Idols - Manufactured Apocalypse [REVIEW]

Genre(s): Slam/Deathcore

Invert The Idols debut EP Manufactured Apocalypse released on February 4, 2014. It has seven songs and about 20 minutes worth of listening materials. The EP is a mix of deathcore, and slam death metal, so there is something for both lovers of their respective genre. The album is short, each song being around three minutes long, except for the third song. So, you may be able to listen through the album without even noticing you had.

The second song is "Force Fed" and the pace of the song changes a bit from the introduction to the actual song. The introduction's pace is quite slow, but it then turns into a very upbeat and face past, in slam fashion. The pace varies throughout the entire song. The sound of the song has little to no deathcore influence, and it sounds like a pure slam death metal song, which I don't mind. Instrumentally, all that can be heard is blast beats and guitar riffs and not much else. It is a bit slow going in some parts, but faster in others. The vocals used are low screams and high screams, but are very raw and strong sounding. The former is what is used the most in this song.

The next song for review is "Kings of Locusts" and it's the fourth song from the EP. The pace of the song is a lot faster than "Force Fed," as from the start it goes straight into a fast paced barrage of brutality. Like the previous song as well, the sound of it is mostly slam death metal with little to no deathcore influence. The instrumentals are roughly the same as well, and the same kind of vocals are used. To sum it up, there isn't much variety from "Force Fed" when compared to this song.

Manufactured Apocalypse is a slam death metal album that lacks variety between some songs, but in others the band changes it up a bit. The difference being that some of the songs sound like slam death metal, and the others sounding more like deathcore (see "Eviscerated and Skinned"). Also, not really about the music but the EP is quite short for seven songs. Overall, Manufactured Apocalypse is a solid slam/deathcore EP that is worth the $5 price tag. So give a listen on their Bandcamp page, and if you have money lying around, pick it up!

Score: 3/5

Interview with Defleshment!

Genre(s): Slam Death Metal

PSAB: When did you guys come up with the name "Defleshment" for your band, and why did you choose that name in particular?

DFM: We got the name from Defleshment's original vocalist Ed Cheromiah. It was something that just clicked with what we where writing at the time, and the name just stuck.

PSAB: You have released two demos, one in 2011 and another in 2012, when can we expect a new demo? Or, even an EP or full length?

DFM: We'll a lot of new material is in progress. We have a arsenal of new songs that we have and can't wait to reveal them to you. We surprised ourselves in our writing. We improved from our past endeavors and all will be featured on our new EP coming out later this year.

PSAB: You have been around since 2008, what is one thing that you have seen change in the metal scene the most over the years?

DFM: It's growing, it's progressing, they all have a unique sound, people are getting more involved. The more people participate, the bigger our scene here in NM gets. We all share the same vision and have a equal respect for one another.Support is highly valued here in our scene.

PSAB: Why did you choose to play slam death metal instead of other similar genres, like regular death metal, technical death metal, and the like?

DFM: We Play Whatever We Create. We play Death Metal but some have told us we have a taste of Slamming Death, Death Grind, and Grooves to Our Tunes. We don't like to label ourselves with genres, so we leave up to the fans with their own opinions.

PSAB: What has played an influence on your music the most?

DFM: Well all our influences are different, but our vision and aspects for the band are all the same, are originality has made us who we are,we established our own identity and came up with our own unique style that's always progressing. Everyone has a fair input and our ideas is something we value equally, if we all dig it,it's a keeper basically.

PSAB: Do you have anything to say for the readers or the fans out there?

DFM: Thanks for the support over the years! Without you Defleshment wouldn't have made it this far, for that we are very grateful. Keep a look out for us, we'll be out to Deflesh a town near you!

All questions answered by Brian, the vocalist.

Alexshok's vocals are fucking insane

I stumbled upon this vocalist last night while I was working. I usually don't listen to vocal covers, or really post about them, but this guy's vocals are crazy good. He goes by Alexshok. This is one of his covers, covering Ingested's song "Endgame." He also has covered songs by Slipknot, Suicide Silence, and Genocide District. I believe this song shows his vocal abilities the best. He's also in an band that isn't very well known, Overlooker. Take my word for it, check out this guy's covers and his band. Subscribe to him and give his band's Facebook page a like as wel, you won't regret it!

Ingested's EP Revered By No One, Feared By All is not an EP you want to sleep on

I didn't know what to expect coming into this EP, except for it being slam-tastic. After listening to it a few times through, I gotta' say, I wish I would have had this EP in my hands before my top five albums of 2013 went out. Because, this EP is fucking awesome, and definitely would have been in my top five. Even if you are just a fan of deathcore and not slam or death metal, you will still enjoy this album. I highly suggest you to check out this EP and not sleep on it.

Ingested announces they will be dropping a new album in 2014!

Ingested announced on their Facebook page, that they will be releasing an album (assuming full-length) in 2014 to follow up their 2013 EP release Revered By No One, Feared By All. I am a big fan of Ingested, so I am definitely hyped about new material from these guys, especially right after they gave us a taste with their most recent EP.

If you haven't heard of these guys, or haven't picked up their EP RBNOFBA, do so now. You won't be disappointed. Pick it up physically on CD or cassette here.
