Interview with Patient Sixty-Seven!

Genre(s): Post-Hardcore/Metalcore
Location: Perth

PSAB: Why did you choose "Patient Sixty-Seven" for your band name?

PSS: The name is homage to a favourite movie of mine, Shutter Island. The Patient Sixty-Seven concept is an important part of the movie, and I won't spoil it for anyone who might not have seen it! But it points strongly to self-reflection, understanding, and being confused by what's really around you. That movie intrigued me, as it has for a lot of people! It just seemed appropriate.

You released your debut single "Gustavo Bling" back in late June. How has the feedback been for that song?

PSS: It's been pretty positive. It was a while coming and written before we had everything solidified in terms of members and our approach. Generally it's been good to hear what people have had to say, but even if someone isn't a big fan of it - that's okay! We appreciate that they've taken the time to listen.

PSAB: Now that your debut single is out, what are your plans next? Release an EP, or another single?

PSS: Our EP is in the works. We don't play to rush anything, but obviously there's more music on the way! Hopefully as soon as possible. :)

PSAB: How is the metal scene in your area of Perth?

PSS: It's always hard to compare. But I'd say relatively strong, there's some serious talent around our city. Definitely plenty of bands that you'd take the time to listen to - Perth is doing alot right. It's obviously just important people keep supporting the music they enjoy!

PSAB: What bands, or musicians, play the most influence on your music?

PSS: It's kind of cool to see everyone's different influences, and that will show in later releases. Some of the guys really enjoy the classic Australian metal acts, which brings alot of intensity to the music. I enjoy some pop/electronic stuff too aside from the usual post-hardcore/metalcore bands, and even orchestral scores, so we try and take from all our influences :)

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to your fans?

PSS: We're obviously still starting out - so alot of support that we get comes from close friends, family, girlfriends. We thank anyone who has given us a chance so far. One song is out, and we'll be working hard and putting more music out soon!
