Structures Announces Hiatus And Farewell Tour

Progressive hardcore band, Structures, announced earlier today that they will be going on an indefinite hiatus after their farewell tour with Obey The Brave, Exalt, and Villains. This was announced via their Facebook page,

"We are saddened to announce that Structures will be going on an indefinite hiatus come 2015. This is not an easy decision considering how much we have put into this band since it's inception in 2009, however we all feel that a healthy break is necessary for each of us for various personal reasons. We are all on good terms and have made this decision collectively.

We want to thank all of our fans, new and old, for supporting the music we have made throughout the last few years. You are what allowed us to live out our dreams and for that we are forever grateful. To all of the bands we have toured with and the friendships that have been formed along the way, thank you for the unforgettable times on the road and the great shows that we've shared. Thank you to Sumerian Records for giving us a platform to release our music. Thanks to Outerloop Management, Good Fight, Pantheon, Avocado and The Agency Group for all your help through the years.

This tour will be a farewell tour of sorts, however, we are not fully closing the idea of picking things back up if and when the time is right. Who knows what tomorrow brings.

We're also excited to have Nick joining us on these dates. It only makes sense that we finish off how we started. We will be playing songs from our entire catalogue.

Looking forward to playing some fun shows around home with Obey The Brave, our hometown friends in Exalt and Villains. See you at the dates below and thanks for your support, we love you all.

Sad to see this happen, as I have been a big fan of Structures since their release Divided By. Hope to see them make a return eventually, but if not, this type of shit happens with bands.

Barrier Releases New Song "Lost In Illusion"

Progressive hardcore/metalcore band, Barrier, released a new song titled "Lost In Illusion" just a few minutes ago. As of right now, this is a stand alone single, but I can assume that it will be including on an upcoming (unannounced) new album. Check out the new song below!

Interview with Left In The Wake!

PSAB: Why did you choose the name "Left in the Wake" as your band name?

LITW: When we started the band officially in 2010, a lot of our influences were very metal to the point of having gothic sounding keyboards and fast tremolo picking… the typical sound of a metal band when they start out. We were trying to come up with a name that reflected the mood of our music and it was the only thing we could all agree on. I know that these days the long name thing is out of fashion and everyone is called a one word name but I think our name fits what we play now better than it ever did in the dark days of 2010.

PSAB: You released an album back in March titled The Banner We Follow. What was the feedback like for that album upon release?

LITW: So far really good in Spain, South America and Russia, We have had a few people liking it from the US and the UK but I think we have quite a British sound because of our influences so it’s that much harder to break through that market when there is so much good home grown talent, Locally there aren’t too many bands that sound like us here so on the plus side, there is a market for us here, we’re just trying to open some more doors and get the name about.

PSAB: If you could have one musician featured on one of your tracks; which musician would that be?

LITW: I’m a big Frank Zappa fan and he’s dead so I’d pick him, I think he’d like the rhythm changes and the interludes, we’d chat about moustaches and beards and probably smoke a lot of weed, but if he was resurrected for just one day I doubt he’d want to spend it listening to me talking about my band or our beards… the weed part would probably interest him though.

PSAB: What is the local metal scene like in Madrid?

LITW: For Metal it’s awesome, it’s very much a metal / thrash / punk dominated city, which has made it a bit more difficult to break through as we’re not really any fixed genre, there are some fairly well known bands from here like “Thirteen Bled Promises” who play deathcore, “Against the waves” who play metalcore among others, but you really see the scene come alive when bands come over seas to play.

PSAB: What has played the most influence on your music?

LITW: The American and Canadian bands have huge followings over here so to say bands like “Misery signals”, “Counterparts”, “CBK”, “Hundredth”, “Converge” haven’t influenced us would be a lie but in terms of classic influences, we can all agree that Pink Floyd, smashing pumpkins, Radiohead, Deftones have all had massive parts in our childhoods and encouraged us to make music that is a bit challenging to listen to, that not everyone will like, but that we enjoy playing and can emote with in our live performances.

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to the readers out there?

LITW:  Yeah! Thanks to everyone who have helped us to get to where we are right now and to the guys helping us out with our UK tour, yeah that’s right, UK tour 8th – 18th August we’re playing about 8 dates starting in Manchester and working our way down, check out our facebook page for more info and you can download / listen to our album free from these links, if you like the stuff we hope to see you at a show sometime soon!

Structures Releases New Song "Follower"

Progressive hardcore band, Structures, released a new song yesterday titled "Follower." The song features vocalist of Northlane, Adrian Fitipaldes. This song is taken from their upcoming album Life Through A Window, which is set to release on the 13th of May and you can preorder the album here: Life Through A Window.

PSAB: Why did you choose the name "Aechoes" for your band?

AECH: We wanted to create a name that meant something but wasn't obvious or literal. We didn't want a single word that was a pluralized noun because we saw that it was going to be an upcoming trend and didn't want to get pigeonholed into a particular genre. We came up with it in 2010 before the huge wave of "nouns" bands. As you see we didn't stick to our original plan.  

PSAB: How was the feedback when you released The Human Condition? Are you still receiving feedback now?

AECH: We originally wrote the album at the end of 2010, and recorded it a couple months later at the beginning of 2011. We immediately released some album samples and a single. Those samples gained a lot of attention in a short period of time. Unfortunately while we were shopping for a label and finalizing contracts the album got pushed back for over a year. It was finally release in 2012. It still gained a decent following but we felt the album was outdated because of the long delay.     

PSAB: If you could share the stage with any band ever, which band would that be?

AECH: Fortunately we have shared the stage with dozens of bands we listen and look up. It's pretty awesome that we call a lot of these bands our friends. It's really hard to pick just one band. A huge touring festival show would be our ideal stage to share. If we got to play with hologram Tupac that would be pretty sweet too.   

PSAB: What is the local metal scene like in Las Vegas, NV?

AECH: Unfortunately it's not what it use to be. Venues open and close several times a year do to a number of reasons. The city of Las Vegas (government) is not very supportive of venues and small businesses. Also the metal music community isn't very supportive. Bands have a competitive attitude vs a supportive attitude. On tour we have learned Vegas isn't the best scene but it certainly isn't the worst. Hopefully we can lead by example by continuing to have a positive attitude, and a supportive mindset.      

PSAB: What play the most influence on your music? This can be non-music related.

AECH: All the bands we play with and listen to influence and inspire us greatly. We hate to give a cliche answer but our passion for music influences us the most. We hope that our music will enlighten people, or at least make someone's day better.  

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to your fans and the readers out there?

AECH: There are so many fans and friends out there that give us a lot of support so it's hard to name names without someone feeling left out. So, sorry if you feel left out! Here's a few of our biggest supporters; Kyle Young from Las Vegas, Matt "Trousers" from Ballarat, Australia, and Corey Bennett from the band Bermuda. Like we said there are so many more people we are thankful for and we will thank you in person the next time we see you!!!!!!
