Interview with One Breath Less!

Genre(s): Hardcore/Metal
Location: Wilmington, NC

PSAB: Where does the band name "One Breath Less" come from?

Aaron: There is honestly not an incredible back story behind our name. We knew we wanted to include a number and that we wanted to avoid commonly words used words in metal band names (pretty much anything with "Death" or "Dying" haha). It could be a metaphor for saying too much or not saying enough. Listener's choice.

PSAB: You released a single about two weeks ago titled "Moments Spent Trembling." How has the feedback been for that? What can we expect in the future?

Aaron: The feedback has been wonderful so far! Our friends and fans think that our ominous new sound is definitely a step in the right direction for One Breath Less.

Tanner: You can expect to see tighter pants and more facial hair from us in the future. oh, and "Drag the Lake", our new EP that this fresh single is from.

PSAB: How's the metal scene in Wilmington, NC?

Aaron: We are fortunate enough to have a couple of great venues that constantly book national acts like Whitechapel or Miss May I. On the right night, you can catch 150-200 metalheads standing in line to support their favorite bands. I just wish there was more love for the talented locals in the area!

PSAB: If you could tour with any three bands, which three bands would you choose?

Aaron: I would probably have to go with Despised Icon, Aversion's Crown and The Black Dahlia Murder on this one.

Tanner: Megadeth, "Kerplunk" era Green Day, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

PSAB: Any plans for the new year? New music? Play shows? Write?

Tanner: (chuckles) All of the above. Plus more beard.

Aaron: Yeah, we are releasing the title track off of our upcoming EP, "Drag the Lake", as a lyric video to kick off 2015. We plan on hitting the road in March or April with some new merch and physical copies of the EP to promote its release! Hopefully next year will be big and busy for us.

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to the readers out there?

Aaron
:
We always have to give a shout out to the 336 crew who always put us on and spread the word. Without you guys' support from our humble beginnings, we would be nothing! You know who you are! A big thank you to Pig Squeals and Breakdowns for giving bands like us the opportunity to increase exposure and for maintaining interest in the success of metal. Every listener counts.

Interview with When Autumn Follows!

Genre(s): Hardcore/Metal
Location: Campbelltown

PSAB: Why did you choose the name "When Autumn Follows" for your band?

WAF: Choosing our name was a big decision for the band. We didn't want your typically names with killing, murder or anything like that in it and the band's name actually ended up being a harder decision than writing music for us. We kind of just stumbled across some ideas of names and we just ended up putting "When Autumn Follows" together. We liked the way it sounded and we felt it just suited us as a band.

PSAB: Your EP Broken Dreams is set to release in January. What can we expect from this EP?

WAF: We have been working on this EP for nearly 2 years now and we have put everything into this. The EP will inc. 6 songs and we are hoping for a lot of positive feedback from it. You can expect some heavy breakdowns along with a mixture of low and high screams, Catchy riffs and choruses with singing in sections, Some insane drum work and maybe an acoustic song... "Broken Dreams" is set for release on the 24/01/15 and we are so excited for everyone to finally here what we have been working on.

PSAB: If you could feature one artist on one of your songs, which artist would that be?

WAF: Well on our second track of the EP we actually have a guest vocalist "Aidan Willis" from a local band "Life Beyond". Aidan is a great mate of ours and an amazing vocalist who we always wanted to feature on one of our songs. Picking another vocalist would be a hard decision for us because we all have different artists we like but it would be a choice between Winston McCall, Jeremy McKinnon or Jeffrey Wellfare. These artist have giving the band some many inspirations and have helped us grow as musicians.

PSAB: How's the metal scene in Campbelltown?

WAF: Campbelltown is producing some of the best hardcore music around NSW at the moment. There are some amazing bands coming through that we have had the privilege to play alongside and we feel that it will only get bigger and better.

PSAB: What country would you tour if you had the choice of any one of them?

WAF: As a band we would love the chance to tour the world. Meeting new people and showing the world our music is what we are all about as a band, but the main places we would love to tour first is America, Europe and Japan.

PSAB: Have any shout outs to give to the readers?

WAF: We just want to thank Pig Squeals and Breakdowns for taking the time to interview us. We would also like to thank all our friends and family for supporting us as a band and helping us achieve our goals. We want to thank Wil Stinson from One Eight Oh Recordings for recording, mixing and mastering our EP. And finally we just want to thank our endorsers Voiceless Clothing.

Weekly Wrap Up (10/20-10/27)

About that time again to wrap up what happened this past week, so we'll jump straight into things. (Also ignore the poorly made thumbnail.)

Outside of the new music and music videos, I interviewed deathcore/djent band Decimate The Ruins, symphonic deathcore act Shadow of Intent, hardcore/metal group Witness, and death metal/hardcore band Witness The Receant.

Not much went out this past week compared to the week before, but hopefully more will happen this upcoming week!

Interview with Laws of Inertia!

Genre(s): Hardcore/Metal
Location: Hackettstown, NJ / Ogden, UT

PSAB: Why did you choose the name "Laws of Inertia" for your band?

LOI: Before Laws of Inertia was around, my friend Matt and I were in a band called Sum of all Fears. We never did anything; we had like two songs and never played anywhere so Matt proposed the idea to start a more serious, more technical project called Laws of Inertia. I'm not positive why he came up with it, but it sounds cool so it stuck. Matt also is no longer a part of the band.

PSAB: You haven't released an EP or album since August of 2013, but have released several singles over the course of 2014. When can we expect a new EP or a full album?

LOI: Currently, Spencer and I are writing a full album that should be out this summer. We released a few singles this year because we wanted to show everyone our new vocalist and give a taste of what's to come this year. The EP that was out last August was totally done by me and was rushed. In short, it sucks kinda. The new album, however, is having much more work put into it so it should be pretty cool.

PSAB: If you had the chance to share the stage with any band, which band would that be?
David: I would really love to share the stage with Veil of Maya because Marc has had a huge impact on how I play guitar.
Spencer: Oh man, I would have to say The Contortionist. They are unlike any other band in my opinion.

PSAB: What are the top five bands that play an influence on your music the most?

David: Veil of Maya, The Black Dahlia Murder, Parkway Drive, Lorna Shore, and Whitechapel probably
Spencer: Between The Buried and Me, Veil of Maya, Lorna Shore, The Contortionist, and Suicide Silence

PSAB: How is the local metal scene in Hackettstown, NJ and/or Ogden, UT?

David: The whole Northern Jersey scene is great. Lorna Shore and Existence are both from here so it's cool seeing them both blow up now in the metal community. There are always shows to go to with tons of really great bands with loads of potential.

Spencer: Ogden’s metal scene really fucking blows in my opinion. There are some cool bands but the last cool thing to come from my area was Chelsea Grin. Though they are not from Ogden, they are from SLC which is just forty five minutes away from Ogden. I really wish I could see this scene be where it used to be. Back in 2004-2008 was a really booming time for Ogden but since then it has severely slowed down.

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to readers out there?

David: I know we're not huge, but I'd like to thank anyone who has ever listened to, downloaded, shared, or done anything else regarding our music. Pig Squeals and Breakdowns has hugely helped us get our name out. Daimien Hartranft of Get JIGGY With It and Shawn Rhude of Afflicted Records are my dudes. Anyone else who has helped LOI and me, you know who you are. Right now we don't have anything super-cool out, but I can assure you that our upcoming album will slay.

Spencer: I just wanna say thanks to anyone who has ever taken the time to listen to our music. Rob Donnelly who is the owner of Terror Tracks who has helped me since the beginning. A HUGE thanks to Pig Squeals and Breakdowns for always helping us out and exposing us to the music scene! And one last big thanks to everyone who ever took the time out of their day to listen/share/like us or support in any way, Big things are to come so be sure to keep up to date!
